So what’s the plan for Saturday? Where are we going?”

Mike
“We haven’t decided yet. We’ll just play it by ear.”
“还没决定,到时候play it by ear吧。”

Play it by ear?

“So… we listen first and decide where to go?”

Mike看了我两秒:“Listen to what?”

“You said ‘play it by ear.’ Like… use our ears?”
“你不是说‘play it by ear’吗?

Mike
“No, no. It means we don’t make a fixed plan. We decide depending on what happens.”

See? We played it by ear.”

“What should we do after dinner?”

“Let’s play it by ear.”
